This expansion reinforces the company\u2019s commitment to vegetation restoration in the region, in accordance with requirements established by Ibama (Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since 2020, the nursery has produced native species seedlings from seeds collected and processed in the region where the port is being built. More than 15,000 seedlings have already been planted in designated forest compensation areas, and the goal is to plant 100,000 seedlings by the end of the construction works of Porto Central\u2019s Phase 1.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The nursery operations involve several production stages: it starts with the collection and selection of seeds, which then undergo controlled germination. Once germinated, the plantlets (young seedlings) are transplanted into bags with substrate, where they receive proper care until reaching adequate size. In the next phase, they undergo an adaptation process\u2014exposure to sunlight and reduced irrigation\u2014to increase their resilience and survival rates after being planted in the field. After being shredded, this material serves as topsoil\u2014an organic layer used to enrich the soil in restoration areas. The terrestrial fauna rescue, which began in November 2024, is also part of the environmental plan. It includes partnerships with institutions such as the Federal Institute of Esp\u00edrito Santo (IFES), Alegre campus, and the relocation of species to protected areas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recognized as a key infrastructure project in Esp\u00edrito Santo and included in the Federal Government\u2019s Growth Acceleration Program (PAC), Porto Central benefits from a strategic location in Presidente Kennedy, in the center of Brazil\u2019s coastline.
