Initiative benefits residents of Presidente Kennedy, Marataízes, and São Francisco de Itabapoana; half of the seats are reserved for women
Porto Central takes another step toward shared development with neighboring communities. In partnership with the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo (IFES) – Presidente Kennedy Campus, the course “Introduction to the Implementation of Basic Industries and Physical Infrastructure Construction” is now being offered free of charge to the local community, promoting inclusion, opportunities, and access to high-quality technical education.
The initiative expands professional training opportunities focused on the port sector and infrastructure implementation chain, opening new paths for employability and growth for residents of Presidente Kennedy, Marataízes, and São Francisco de Itabapoana.
A key highlight is that 50% of the seats are reserved for women. This measure helps encourage women’s participation in the workforce, strengthening gender equality and promoting social inclusion through professional education.
With 25 available seats and a total duration of 60 hours, the course is delivered in a hybrid format (80% in person), with evening classes held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The program began on Wednesday (October 15) and is taught by IFES instructors, featuring modules on:
- Citizenship and Professional Ethics
- Port Organizational Culture
- Quality and Productivity
- Communication and Portuguese Language
- Occupational Safety
- Applied Basic Mathematics
- Environment and Sustainability
For Porto Central, opening the course to the community represents a concrete step toward building a relationship of trust and shared development with neighboring regions.
“Each new class represents an opportunity to develop local talent and strengthen the connection between Porto Central and the surrounding communities,” says Sueli Tonini, Environmental Manager at Porto Central.
The partnership between Porto Central and IFES has been consolidating as a model of cooperation between the productive sector and public education, joining efforts to train skilled professionals, promote diversity, and drive sustainable development in southern Espírito Santo and northern Rio de Janeiro.
