Between March 3 and 6, Porto Central held its 1st Environmental Accident Prevention Week, an initiative aimed at employees and service providers involved in the project’s construction activities in Presidente Kennedy (ES), Brazil.
The initiative was part of Porto Central’s Environmental Education Program (PEA) and aimed to strengthen a culture of prevention and environmental responsibility in the workplace, while expanding teams’ knowledge of best practices and safety procedures.
A preventive culture is built every day
The program was designed to demonstrate, in a practical way, how daily decisions, behaviors, and procedures directly influence the environmental safety of operations.
Key topics addressed throughout the week included:
> Operational Emergency Response Team (EOR) and Emergency Response Plan (ERP)team preparedness and rapid response capacity in situations involving environmental risk.
> Response to environmental incidentspresentation of technical procedures and response protocols for critical situations, with the participation of specialists from Ambipar, a leading company in environmental management and emergency response.
> Wildlife Rescue Program and solid waste managementguidance on protecting local biodiversity and preventing environmental impacts during construction activities.
> Human factors in accident causationreflection on how behavior, compliance with procedures, and daily decision-making directly influence the occurrence of incidents.
The initiative reinforces the importance of active participation by all professionals involved in the project. By promoting knowledge, dialogue, and awareness, Porto Central contributes to strengthening a preventive culture in which each worker and partner plays a key role in protecting the environment and ensuring operational safety.
