Porto Central welcomed, this month, a technical visit from the management team of the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo (Ifes) – Presidente Kennedy Campus. The meeting marked the beginning of engagement with the institution’s new administration and reinforced alignment around initiatives aimed at regional development.
During the visit, the delegation toured the project’s infrastructure, including the administrative area, veterinary clinic, plant nursery, construction site, quarry, and forest compensation areas. The agenda also provided an overview of the current stage of construction and the complexity of ongoing operations.
The meeting reinforced the existing partnership between Porto Central and Ifes, established since the campus was implemented in the municipality, and opened opportunities for new areas of collaboration.
Key outcomes include strengthening research and extension projects, as well as continuing professional training initiatives aimed at workers and communities within the direct area of influence, which includes the municipalities of Presidente Kennedy and Marataízes, in Espírito Santo, and São Francisco de Itabapoana, in Rio de Janeiro.
Network-based approach and expansion of partnerships
Collaboration with other Ifes campuses was also highlighted as strategic to expand the reach of initiatives, bringing training opportunities closer to local communities and strengthening integrated regional development.
As highlighted by Sueli Tonini, Environmental Manager at Porto Central:
“Given its nature and mission, Porto Central has strong expectations of working in the future with other Ifes campuses, particularly the Piúma campus. This represents a promising opportunity, considering the technical expertise and potential of this unit to contribute to initiatives focused on regional development.””
Engagement with education and research institutions is part of Porto Central’s strategy to promote professional qualification, innovation, and sustainable development in the territories where it operates.
