On the 19th, an extraordinary meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Memorandum of Agreement between the Government of Espírito Santo, the Municipality of Presidente Kennedy, and Porto Central (CIMDA) was held at the State Secretariat for Development (SEDES) headquarters in Vitória. The meeting brought together representatives from Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro and focused on the Blue Economy, highlighting the Blue Jobs Program and the Blue Seal Certification – Coastal Cities.
These initiatives, already implemented in municipalities of Rio de Janeiro, were presented as reference experiences that combine professional training, sustainability, and regional economic development, and may inspire similar actions in Espírito Santo.
The meeting was attended by representatives from Porto Central, FACERJ, the Deliberative Council of Sebrae/RJ, and the State Government of Espírito Santo: Secretariat for Development (SEDES), Secretariat for Tourism (SETUR), Secretariat for the Environment (SEAMA), Secretariat for Economy and Planning (SEP), and Secretariat for Education (SEDU).
Blue Jobs
The Blue Jobs Program, developed in Rio de Janeiro, aims to train professionals for the energy and maritime economy sectors, strengthening employability and regional competitiveness. Among the courses offered by the State Secretariat for Energy and the Maritime Economy (SEENEMAR) are practical trainings such as Scaffold Assembly Safety, Work at Heights, and Steward Services, all aligned with Regulatory Standards.
Blue Seal
The Blue Seal Certification – Coastal Cities, created by FACERJ, recognizes coastal municipalities that adopt sustainable practices and responsible management of marine resources. Inspired by international experiences, the seal acknowledges municipalities that promote environmental preservation, sustainable economic development, and quality of life for the population.
Espírito Santo Looking Ahead
Through this meeting, Porto Central reinforces its role as a convener of strategic debates for the future of the region and the strengthening of the Blue Economy in Espírito Santo. According to Léa Reis, Socioeconomics Coordinator at Porto Central, “the expectation is that the experiences presented can serve as a basis for new policies and projects in the State, focusing on employability, sustainability, and innovation.”
