Technical visit strengthens dialogue with surrounding communities and reinforces the continuity of the port's socio-environmental actions
This week, Porto Central welcomed a technical visit from the delegation of the Environmental Education Center (NEA) of the Campos Basin region. The activity brought together 30 representatives from the Local Management Groups (GGL) of the municipalities of Presidente Kennedy, São Francisco de Itabapoana, and Marataízes, as part of an ongoing effort to foster closer ties with neighboring communities.
During the visit, the participants had the opportunity to learn more about the ongoing socio-environmental programs, environmental monitoring, construction progress, local workforce training initiatives, résumé registration processes, and the port’s relationship with regional suppliers.
The delegation was welcomed by the technical team responsible for the port’s socio-environmental programs, who also presented one of the native seedling planting areas and the nursery maintained by Porto Central — a key initiative that demonstrates the port’s commitment to environmental responsibility and conservation.
According to Karen Matta Santos, social educator at the NEA in Presidente Kennedy, the visit enabled an important exchange of knowledge:
“We gained many insights, had several questions answered, and left with the door open for future visits and new opportunities for dialogue,” she said. afirmou.
This initiative is part of Porto Central’s ongoing efforts to promote community engagement, environmental education, and transparency in relation to the port’s activities. Strengthening ties with local communities remains a central pillar of the project’s socio-environmental governance.
