Graduation Marks Completion of Training Course by Porto Central and IFES

Event marks another step in the partnership between Porto Central and IFES to strengthen local professional training.

Porto Central and IFES – Presidente Kennedy Campus have concluded another edition of the course “Introduction to the Implementation of Basic Industries and Physical Infrastructure Construction.” After the first cohort, which focused on workers, this second edition was directed toward residents of Presidente Kennedy, Marataízes, and São Francisco de Itabapoana — the three municipalities that make up the project's direct socioeconomic influence area (AID).

The free training is part of a broader set of professional qualification initiatives that contribute to achieving the goal of up to 70% local workforce in priority positions during Porto Central’s implementation.

Women in focus and stories that move forward

In this edition, 50% of the seats were reserved for women — and all were filled. Their participation brought diversity, new perspectives, and strong engagement throughout the course. For many of the women, the training offered an opportunity to expand knowledge and envision new professional paths.

Cristiani Debona Costa highlighted how the course has helped strengthen community confidence in the progress of the project: “People don’t believe the port is coming, and this course is sparking interest in training and preparation to work at the enterprise.”

The experience was also meaningful for those seeking a new beginning. Simoni Vaz Coelho shared:
“It was an opportunity, even for me who is older. Inside the classroom, we had a very valuable exchange.”

Course content that prepares for the future

With 60 hours of training, the course covered essential topics for working in the port sector and infrastructure chain, such as Citizenship and Professional Ethics, Port Organizational Culture, Communication and Portuguese Language, Quality and Productivity, Occupational Safety, Applied Mathematics, and Fundamentals of Environment and Sustainability.

The graduation ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 19, at the IFES – Presidente Kennedy Campus.

By offering technical training directly to local residents, Porto Central reinforces its commitment to creating real opportunities for socioeconomic development and strengthening its connection with the surrounding communities.
