Porto Central’s Second Environment Week brought together employees, students, public authorities, educational institutions, and community members for a series of activities focused on environmental education, the appreciation of natural resources, and strengthening dialogue with local communities. Throughout the week, lectures, technical visits, meetings, and hands-on activities encouraged reflection on sustainability, environmental conservation, and responsible development.
The program began on Monday (22) with a Daily Safety Dialogue (DSD) dedicated to wildlife protection, highlighting the importance of preserving local species and adopting measures to minimize impacts on biodiversity throughout the project’s activities.
Another key topic was the Blue Economy, explored from different perspectives with an emphasis on the opportunities created by the sustainable use of marine and coastal resources. Discussions also addressed the region’s development potential and the prospects associated with the Itabapoana River Mouth Sustainable Development Reserve.
On Wednesday (24), students from Vilmo Ornelas School visited the project site and participated in educational activities aimed at raising environmental awareness. The program included a presentation on Porto Central’s socio-environmental programs, followed by a guided tour of the construction site, giving students a closer look at the project and its sustainability initiatives.
The week also featured the Social Participation Forums Meeting, which brought together representatives from local communities, public authorities, and environmental program teams to present the results and initiatives being implemented across the region. Topics included the ParkLog Sul Capixaba initiative, the Community Perception Survey, and the new edition of the Local Suppliers Catalog—initiatives that contribute to strengthening regional development, expanding opportunities for local businesses, and fostering relationships with the project's diverse stakeholders.
The program concluded on Friday (26) with a Beach Clean-up Campaign, engaging participants in a practical environmental awareness initiative through the collection and proper disposal of waste found along the shoreline.
Porto Central’s Second Environment Week is part of the company's socio-environmental programs, implemented in accordance with the requirements of the federal environmental licensing process. These initiatives reinforce Porto Central’s commitment to sustainability, environmental education, and building an increasingly transparent, participatory, and responsible relationship with the communities in its area of influence.
